I read what was presented for the definition of RSS feeds and looked at other descriptions as well. I felt the CommonCraft video was a very good explanation of the concept. Maybe I'm more of a visual learner. At first, I thought maybe RSS feeds were going to be a little like subscribing to a listserv, but I was mistaken.
Setting up an account for an RSS feed reader was very simple, especially since I already have a Google account. Trying to decide what url's to add, now that's an undertaking. Once I started subscribing to several sites I could more clearly understand why someone would want to start a reader.
Depending on how much you want to wade through on your reader, depends on which feeds you pick. The news feeds can be very broad or specific depending on which url you subscribe to within a website.
Many of the websites I visit regularly, don't offer RSS feeds, bummer. The RSS feed icon is now one of the first things I look at when I open a website.
Taking advantage of RSS feeds will really be helpful when keeping current with any professional issues. I'm having fun with more personal information as well.

2). What is Web 2.0 and Why Should I Care?
I didn't realize there has been so much discussion going on about Library 2.0. After reading John Blyberg's blog and viewing the Murdoch University video, 23 Things Programme, I continued to read many of the linked articles and blogs. Librarians are so very passionate about what they do, but I knew that since I've been part of library support staff for almost 35 years.
I agree with libraries having to continue to move forward with the new technologies, especially since this seems to be what many of our patrons/customers are looking for. More information, delivered faster, in every format, and delivered with the newest technologies.
The debate about funding Library 2.0 is a never ending dilemma. How do you balance buying the latest best seller and still keep the teens dancing to Dance Dance Revolution? And for the people who don't own their own computer or can't pay for the fastest data delivery service, do you keep buying more and more computers for public use? Can libraries afford to be everything for everybody?
What are my expectations for 23 Things on a Stick:
Well, I'm hoping to learn a few new things and keep up with the technology that's now a big part of my library. I've encourage several of my colleagues, who are also support staff, to participate in this learning project. I'm finding it's a great opportunity to connect with the new features at my library and started a dialog with some of us behind-the-scenes workers.

23 Things on a Stick
Here we go with 23 Things On a Stick.
Creating the blog was fairly easy. Can see that this will come in handy and help me get more comfortable with blogging. Especially since this form of communicating is fast and easy and speaks to lots of people at the same time. Maybe I'll get more comfortable as the learning project moves on.
Creating the avatar was fun. You can get very creative if you have the time to view all of the choices for creation. I'll have to go back and explore more when I have more time.
